Some people don't like the taste of a french toast or find it too bland. Well!! I have good news, I have a remix recipe for you. My mom used to make it for us as a snack item, and we relished it. It is flavorful, crispy, crunchy, and delicious.
Yield: 2 servings
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 15 min
Total Time: 25 min
INGREDIENTS
2 slices of multigrain bread(any bread would work, I prefer multigrain)
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp chilly powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/4 cup of soy milk(any milk works)
An egg
1/2 a onion, finely sliced
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp of olive oil
Finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
DIRECTIONS
1. Beat the egg along with all the spices, until everything gets mixed into a uniform batter.
2. Add the onion and coriander leaves to the mixture, and then add the milk while whisking it.
3. Dip both the sides of the bread into the batter until the egg gets partially absorbed(you don't want your bread slice to become soggy, so don't keep it dipped in for too long).
4. Heat the olive oil in medium flame in a non-stick pan.
5. Place the bread slice gently into the pan and fry each side until the onions get browned. Enjoy!!
NOTES
Optional: If you like your toast to be crunchy, keep the slice of the bread in the pan for 2-3 minutes longer, in medium flame. It will give the toast a nice crunchy texture, and it complements the sweetness of the onion perfectly.
