Turmeric is one of those food items which is known from ages for it's incredible health benefits. Curcumin one of the active chemicals available in Turmeric is known for its scientifically proven health benefits, such as the potential to prevent heart diseases, Alzheimer's and even cancerous cell growth. Having been able to consume Turmeric in it's raw form almost doubles up it’s benefits. But, the taste and smell of turmeric makes it quite difficult to consume. INGREDIENTS
250 gms of Raw turmeric
1 tsp of cumin seeds
1 tsp of mustard seeds
5 tbsp of mustard oil
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp chilly powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp of finely chopped garlic
1 tbsp of finely chopped ginger
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt(or as you like it, I am a miser when it comes to salt)
1 tsp of sugar
DIRECTIONS
1. Wash the turmeric well and let them dry up completely.
2. Cut the turmeric into small pieces.
3. Heat up the oil and temper it with cumin and mustard seeds.
4. Add the finely chopped ginger and garlic and fry until the raw smell of ginger and garlic goes off.
5. Add the turmeric slices to the and fry them maintaining medium flame.
6.Add all spices and fry for 10 mins while stirring from time to time for uniform frying.
7. Remove the turmeric and add the lemon juice to it.
Notes: Store the pickle in a glass jar and give the contents of the jar a mix from time to time and enjoy the goodness and deliciousness!!!
