Lifestyle: Things that will keep you going in this lockdown

When it started, it felt like we were on a break, and it will end soon. But now it has become the new normal. I am at Pune since the beginning of this pandemic, and things are pretty scary. So going out was never an option that I considered or would consider until things are considerably better. But I think I have made my peace with staying indoor now and honestly I kind of like it. Here is a list of few things that helped me go through this lockdown so far without losing my mind.

Grow Plants

Grow plants, they are amazing. When you see a plant grow, it opens up your mind. Taking care of the plant and seeing it grow is like having a baby, it keeps you occupied. And if you are wondering that where will I get soil and a tub, and it's messy, no it is not and, you can grow a lot of plants from the parts you scrap off in the water, that simple.

Unwind

Take a break if you have been working for too long, or you feel house chores have been taking a toll on you. Stop for a moment and breathe. It is difficult to stay all by yourself, and it is okay to be scared or frustrated. Listen to music, move with your favorite tune, make a playlist, and listen to it on loop.

Want something different, try audible. I didn't know I would like audiobooks until I tried them. If you have Amazon prime membership, audible gives you credit to listen to a book for free. Isn't that amazing!

DIY

I can't stress enough about how therapeutic DIY is. Color a bottle and keep it as home decor, make a hanging pot, make a to-do board, and whatnot. Pinterest is an amazing source for DIY ideas.

Cleanse

'Cleanliness is next to Godliness.' and I have never felt it more before. Be it cleaning your house or self-grooming, cleaning in any form gives you immense peace-of-mind. Don't believe me! Well! Try yourself and find out.

Take a day to yourself.

I call it my 'self-care' day. Yes, it is extremely important to take time to yourself and maybe even do nothing. I scrub, mask, and sip in my favorite tea and later gobble over my 'Sunday Special Biriyani'. I don't think or worry at all on this particular day, no matter what!

Find your hidden talent.

I think this is the best time to search and find your hidden talent. Yes, we all have at least one, and discoveries always make us feel happy!! I can bend my thumb and make it touch my arm! What's yours? Can't think of any, well try this!

Start something new.

It can be anything!! Something that you always wanted to do but never ended up doing because you did not have time or were just being lazy. You have plenty of time to think now, why not give that thing a try. I have started blogging! Something I always wanted to do and, I'm loving it.

I also embarked on my way to find my favorite flavor of  tea. I try a new flavor every day. It is a ritual I look up to every single day.

Declutter

I Can't stress enough on how amazing it feels to declutter anything and everything. It is the perfect time to realize the behavior of your consumption and get rid of stuff that you don't need.

Don't worry if you can't get rid of the stuff that you de-cluttered right away! Set it aside; it will give you time to retrospect whether you really need that item or not.

Cook

Try new recipes, or maybe master your favorite recipe. Find your comfort food and learn to cook it and, then actually cook it. Don't worry if it doesn't taste good!! Understand and figure out what is wrong. Next time you might end up making it better than your favorite restaurant.

Feel it.

Don't run away from your feelings or situations! Rather be there and face it, it makes you stronger. It is okay if you feel like crying, laughing, being angry! Feel it, don't let things pile up. Feel the small, simple things that we often neglect.

Feel it when your partner says I love you, live that moment. Feel it when your mother expresses her love when she worries about your well being or when she gets tired of telling you the recipe the 100th time and, you still call her to confirm every time. Take a moment, one at a time and, live it.

Connect

I never understood how important it was to connect until I was locked in a house for four months. You need to connect to the world and trust me, so many people wish to connect with you as well. All you need to do is start. Listen, and you will always have someone to listen to you.

Catan, Ludo, Scribble, you name it, they are all amazing!! Reconnect with your buddies and make a
ritual, to try all of them out. I always look forward to playing Catan with my college pals and ludo with my family. It's so much fun to see the competitive sides of your parents.

Read

Read anything, be it a book, or a blog, or maybe answer to questions on Quora. Reading is amazing, it helps to broaden your imagination. So grab your book and start reading already.

Let me know what are the things that you look up to these days! Can't wait to hear from you guys!
